The Police have arrested a 43-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a Housebreaking and Theft case along Bukit Batok St 21.

On 25 May 2017, the Police received a report of a break-in at a residential unit along Bukit Batok St 21. A mobile phone and wallet containing about $70 cash were found missing from the unit.

Officers from Jurong Police Division conducted extensive investigations and with the aid of footages from Police Cameras (POLCAMs), the identity of the suspect was established and he was subsequently arrested along Bukit Batok Central on 6 June 2017.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 8 June 2017 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of up to 14 years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are properly secured with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks;
  • Keep large sums of cash in banks and expensive jewellery in a safe deposit box;
  • Secure all doors and windows before retiring to bed or when leaving your house unattended, even for a short while; and
  • Install a burglar alarm, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
