The Police have arrested a 60-year-old man believed to be involved in a case of Housebreaking and Forgery.

 

On 19 June 2017, the Police received a report that unit located along French Road had been broken into and some cheques were reported to be missing.  Through extensive enquiries, officers from Central Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Jalan Sultan on the same day.

 

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was an ex-employee and had stolen cheques belonging to the company. The suspect forged the employer’s signature to encash cheques amounting to S$60,000.

 

Investigation against the suspect is ongoing. If convicted for an offence of Housebreaking and Theft, the suspect may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years.  If convicted for Forgery of a Valuable Security, the suspect may be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 15 years, and shall also be liable to fine.
