On 5 July 2017, the suspect was spotted splashing paint and leaving a debtor note at a unit located at Blk 129 Bukit Merah View. Through the aid CCTV footages, officers from Clementi Police Division managed to establish the identity of the suspect and arrested her at Blk 123 Bukit Merah View.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect is believed to have carried out similar acts of harassment in the vicinity of Bukit Merah and Jurong West housing estates.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 7 July 2017 under the Moneylenders Act (2010 Revised Edition). Under the Moneylenders Act (2010 Revised Edition), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 stroke.
