The National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) will be holding its 36th Annual Appreciation Dinner and Awards Presentation on Friday, 21 July 2017. The event will be attended by donors, sponsors and working partners who have supported NCPC’s programmes to keep Singapore Safe and Secure. The Guest-of-Honour is Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minster for Law.
BATTLE AGAINST SCAMS – A SUCCESSFUL NEIGHOBOURHOOD WATCH ZONE INITIATIVE
At the event, the NCPC will be recognising outstanding Neighbourhood Watch Zones (NWZs) that have implemented effective crime prevention programmes in 2016. A total of 70 NWZs will be receiving the Gold award. One of them will be Tampines East Zone 2 RC which came up with the Anti-Scam Game Box to help residents learn about common scams.
APPOINTMENT OF NCPC HONORARY CRIME PREVENTION AMBASSAOR
The NCPC will be also officially appointing popular local celebrity Mr Li Nanxing as its Honorary Crime Prevention Ambassador.
UNVEILING OF NCPC’s NEW BOOK, “THE OSTRICH, THE AH LONG, THE CON WOMAN, AND THE CREEPY GUY”
In addition, Mr K Shanmugam, Minister for Home Affairs and Minster for Law, together with Mr Tan Kian Hoon, Chairman of NCPC, will be unveiling a new book by NCPC, titled “The Ostrich, The Ah Long, The Con Woman, and The Creepy Guy”. The book, co-written by Ms Susan Sim and Dr Majeed Khader, discusses the effectiveness and success of NCPC’s iconic crime prevention campaigns and programmes, such as the Crime Watch TV programme, anti-scam campaign and X-Ah-Long campaign.
