The Police have arrested a 59-year old man for his suspected involvement in loansharking activities.
On 9 July 2017, the Police received a report informing that a shop at Whampoa Drive had been splashed with paint. Through extensive ground enquiries, officers from Tanglin Police Division swiftly established the identity of the suspect and arrested him on 20 July 2017 along Toa Payoh Central.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 22 July 2017 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). First-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be punished with imprisonment for a term not exceeding 5 years and shall also be liable to a fine of not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory caning of not less than 3 and not more than 6 strokes.
