The Police have arrested a 41-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of House-breaking and Theft by Night at Block 82 Macpherson Lane.

 

On 24 July 2017 at 11.52 am, the Police were informed that a shop had been broken into.  Cash amounting to $300/- and an iPad were found missing.

 

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of Police cameras (PolCam), officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Circuit Road on 25 July 2017. Investigations against the suspect are ongoing.

 

The offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, carries an imprisonment term of not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years, and shall also be liable to fine.

 

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;
  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in unattended premises; and
  • Install a burglar alarm and CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
