The Police have arrested two men, aged 26 and 31 for their suspected involvement in a case of theft in dwelling at Blk 186 Toa Payoh Central. 

 

On 24 July 2017, the Police were alerted to a case of theft in dwelling at a jewellery shop. Both suspects had entered the jewellery shop but had left without any purchase. Shortly later, the 26-year-old suspect returned to the shop and requested to view a gold bangle worth about $4780. When the shop assistant handed over the gold bangle to the suspect, he fled with the bangle.

 

Officers from Tanglin Police Division conducted extensive follow-up investigations and managed to establish the identities of the suspects. The duo were arrested on 25 July 2017 at Toa Payoh and Bukit Batok respectively.   

 

The two suspects will be charged in Court on 27 July 2017 with the offence of Theft in Dwelling with Common Intention under section 380 read with section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 7 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.
