The Police have arrested a 33-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of Extortion at Blk 165 Yishun Ring Road.
On 25 July 2017 at about 2.27 pm, the 52-year-old male victim reported that he was extorted of cash amounting $400 by the suspect.
Upon receipt of the report, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and investigative probes. Their efforts paid off and the suspect was arrested on 28 July 2017 at about 11.50 am at Blk 173 Yishun Ave 7. The suspect was also found in possession of two knives.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 29 July 2017 with an offence of Extortion under Section 385 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of not less than two years and not more than 5 years, and with caning.
