The Police have arrested a 41-year-old man believed to be involved in a case of House-breaking and Theft by Night at Block 204 Bedok North Street 1.

 

On 12 August 2017 at about 8.46 am, the Police were informed that a coffee shop had been broken into. Cash amounting to about $1000/- and a mobile phone worth about $600/- were reported missing. 

 

Through extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of Police cameras (POLCAMs), officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Circuit Road on 14 August 2017. 

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 16 August 2017 with an offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than 2 years and not more than 14 years, and shall also be liable to fine.

 

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

- Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

- Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in unattended premises; and

- Install a burglar alarm and CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and are in good working condition.
