The Police have arrested a 18-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of attempted extortion.
On 17 August 2017 at about 4.11 am, Police received a report lodged by a 19-year-old woman who informed that an online acquaintance had threatened to upload a video of her having sex with him if she did not transfer $100 to him.
Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive ground queries and subsequently arrested the suspect on 22 August 2017 at Bedok North Street 3.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 24 August 2017 with the offence of Attempted Extortion under Section 385 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a minimum jail term of 2 years and with caning.
