A 39-year-old man was convicted of theft of petrol on 22 August 2017.
In May 2017, the Police received several reports of theft of petrol at petrol stations. Officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and arrested 39-year-old Tan William on 23 May 2017. It was established that Tan did not make payment after filling up his vehicle with petrol at the stations.
On 22 August 2017, Tan was sentenced to 14 months' imprisonment for theft of patrol and other drug related offences.
The Police would like to remind all motorists the failure to pay for petrol is tantamount to theft, which carries an imprisonment term of up to 3 years, or with fine, or with both.
