The Police have arrested a 22-year-old woman and a 34-year-old man for suspected involvement in a case of loanshark harassment at Blk 624A Punggol Drive.

 

On 19 August 2017, Police received a report by a victim who informed that his unit had been splashed with paint. Through extensive ground enquiries and the aid of footages from POLCAM, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrested the two suspects on 24 August 2017. Based on preliminary investigations, the two suspects are believed to be involved in other loanshark harassment cases reported island wide.

 

The two suspects will be charged in Court on 25 August 2017 under the Moneylenders Act 2010 (Revised Edition). Under the Moneylenders Act (Revised Edition 2010), first time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment shall be fined not less than $5,000 and not more than $50,000 with mandatory imprisonment of up to 5 years and mandatory caning of up to 6 strokes.
