The Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of motor vehicle.
On 21 August 2017, the Police received a report of a motorcycle being stolen from the car park of Blk 242 Tampines Street 21. Upon receipt of the report, officers from Bedok Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and established the identity of the suspect. He was arrested on 29 August 2017 at the multi-storey car park at Blk 2 Geylang Serai.
The suspect will be charged in Court on 31 August 2017 for the offence of Theft of Motor Vehicle under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, the suspect is liable to an imprisonment term of up to 7 years and a fine.
The Police would like to advise all motorcycle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

Park your motorcycle in well-lit areas;

Install an anti-theft alarm for your motorcycle;

Use a motorcycle canvas to cover the motorcycle, securing both ends;

Use additional locking devices such as disc brake locks or install a suspension guard; and

Remove the ignition key and lock the motorcycle, whenever it is left unattended.
