The Police have arrested a 51-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of Housebreaking and Theft along Tampines Central 1.

On 30 August 2017 at about 1 pm, the Police received a report that an unknown man had ransacked one of the rooms in the house. Officers from Bedok Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of footages from Police cameras (POLCAMs), the identity of the man was established. On 31 August 2017 at 4 am, the man was arrested along Haig Road. 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 31 August 2017 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft under Section 454 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. Anyone convicted for the offence of Housebreaking and Theft may be punished with an imprisonment term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures: 

  • Ensure that all doors, roller shutter, windows and other openings are well secured with good quality grilles and close-shackled padlocks;

  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash and valuables in unattended premises; and

  • Install a burglar alarm, motion sensor light and/or close circuit surveillance camera to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
