The Police have arrested two more suspects in connection with the case of cheating involving $1.5 million reported on 2 September 2017.

The Police had earlier charged a 36-year-old French man and 39-year-old Romanian man with the offence of Cheating with Common Intention on 4 September 2017 following a report lodged by a firm informing that they had been cheated of $1.5million in a ploy involving the purchase of a vessel using counterfeit notes.

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Clementi Police Division arrested a 36-year-old French woman and a 46-year-old Dutch man at a hotel located along Havelock Road on 5 September 2017. A total of over $730,000 were recovered from the two suspects.

The two suspects will be charged on 6 September 2017 with the offence of Cheating with Common Intention which is punishable with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 10 years, and shall also be liable to a fine.

The Police do not condone such brazen acts and will spare no efforts to track down, apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
