Four Teenagers Arrested For A Series Of Theft Cases In Ang Mo Kio And Yishun

The Police have arrested four teenagers, aged between 14 to 16 who are believed to be involved in a series of theft cases in Ang Mo Kio and Yishun.

 

On 28 August 2017 at about 8.15pm, the Police received a report from a 37-year-old male victim, informing that his cash-card was missing from the IU unit of his motorcycle which was parked at Yishun Avenue 11. 

 

Officers from Ang Mo Kio Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police Cameras (Polcams), the identities of the suspects were established and they were arrested along Yishun Ring Road on 4 September 2017.

 

Preliminary Investigations revealed that they were also believed to be involved in a series of Theft of cash cards at Ang Mo Kio and Yishun. 2 of the suspects were also believed to be involved in a case of Snatch Theft reported on 1 September 2017 at Blk 240 Yishun Ring Road.

 

Two of the suspects, aged 14, will be charged in Court on 6 September 2017 with the offence of Snatch Theft read with Common Intention under Section 356 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of not less than one year and not more than 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning. Investigations are ongoing for the other two suspects. If convicted, the suspects are liable for an imprisonment term of up to 3 years, a fine, or both.

 

The Police would like to remind youths to steer clear of criminal activities. Peer pressure and a moment of temptation can easily lead one astray, towards the crime of theft which comes with severe consequences. One should exercise self-control and not succumb to temptation or peer pressure in such situations.
