The Police have arrested a 60-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of Armed Robbery reported at Punggol Central.

 

On 24 October 2017 at about 3.30 pm along Punggol Central, a 56-year-old female victim reported that an unknown man armed with a knife had entered into the lift with her and robbed her of her pouch valued at S$14.90/-. The pouch contains a set of keys and a packet of tissue paper. Thereafter, the suspect fled towards unknown direction.

 

Upon receipt of the reports, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and investigative probes. On the same day at 6.45 pm, the suspect was arrested along Edgefield Walk. The pouch and the keys were seized for investigations. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is also believed to be involved in a case of attempted Armed Robbery reported on 24 October 2017 at about 12.20pm, along Edgefield Plains.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 26 October 2017 for an offence of Armed Robbery under Section 394 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a jail term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and shall also be punished to caning of not less than 12 strokes of the cane.
