The Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of housebreaking and theft.

On 12 October 2017, the Police received a report that a childcare centre along Woodlands Dr 60 was broken into and cash amounting to about S$3,300 was stolen. Following the report, officers from Jurong Police Division conducted extensive investigations and established the identity of the suspect. He was subsequently arrested on 24 October 2017.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 26 October 2017 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment for a term of up to 14 years and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are properly secured with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks;

  • Keep large sums of cash in banks and expensive jewellery in a safe deposit box;

  • Install a burglar alarm, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
