The Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for his suspected involvement in two cases of snatch theft.

 

On 10 November 2017 at about 6.20am, Police were alerted to a snatch theft case whereby a 30-year-old woman reported that an unknown man had snatched her gold chain from her neck.

 

Following that, on 15 November 2017 at about 8.00pm, Police were alerted to a second snatch theft case whereby a 36-year-old woman was at a bus-stop along Kallang Road when an unknown man approached from behind and snatched her gold chain before fleeing.

 

Upon receipt of the reports, officers from Central Police Division conducted extensive follow-up investigations. With the aid of images from Police cameras (POLCAM) and private CCTV cameras in the vicinity of both incidents, they established the identity of the suspect and arrested him along Jalan Besar on 22 November 2017.

The suspect will be charged in Court on 24 November 2017 with the offence of Snatch Theft punishable under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning.
