The Police have arrested a 38-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of Housebreaking and Theft by Night at a pre-school along Mountbatten Road.

 

On 19 November 2017 at about 10 pm, the police received a report that a man had jumped into a school by climbing over the gate.  Upon receipt of the report, officers from Bedok Police Division conducted extensive ground enquiries and managed to establish the identity of the man with the aid of Police cameras. He was subsequently arrested on 29 November 2017 at 7.50 pm along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 1. 

 

The man will be charged in Court on 1 December 2017 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which is punishable with imprisonment term of up to 14 years and a fine. 

 

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Secure all doors, roller shutters, windows and other openings with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks when leaving your premises unattended, even for a short while;

  • Refrain from keeping large sums of cash in unattended premises; and

  • Install a burglar alarm and CCTVs, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
