The Police have arrested a 22-year-old man who is believed to be involved in a case of Housebreaking and Theft by Night at Chiselhurst Grove.

 

On 16 November 2017 at about 8.20pm, the Police received a report from a victim informing that several items like her laptop, cameras and cash were missing from the house.

 

Through follow up investigations, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the suspect and arrested him at Blk 470 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10 on 30 November 2017. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect had entered the house through the main door.

 

The suspect will be charged in Court on 2 December 2017 with the offence of Housebreaking and Theft by Night under Section 457 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 which carries a maximum of 7 years imprisonment.

 

The Police would like to advise all property owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

 

  • Ensure that all doors, windows and other openings are properly secured with good quality grills and close-shackled padlocks;

  • Keep large sums of cash in banks and expensive jewellery in a safe deposit box;

  • Install a burglar alarm, to cover the access points into your premises. Ensure that they are tested periodically and in good working condition.
