The Police have arrested a 44-year-old man believed to be involved in a case of attempted armed robbery in the vicinity of City Plaza.
On 28 December 2017 at about 4am, the Police were alerted by the 52-year-old victim, a taxi driver, who reported that his male passenger had tried to rob him using a penknife. The suspect had fled the scene.
Following investigations, the suspect was arrested at 5.50am on the same day.
The suspect will be charged on 29 December 2017 with an offence of Attempted Armed Robbery under Section 397 read with Section 393 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than two years and not more than 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning of not less than 12 strokes.
