The Police have arrested two men, aged 20 and 21, for their suspected involvement in a case of robbery reported at an open-air cark park of Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park.

 

On 11 May 2018 at about 10.00 pm, the Police received a report that a 73-year-old taxi driver had been robbed at the said car park. Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had picked up two male passengers along Tanglin Halt Road at about 9.20pm. Upon arrival at the destination, the two men restrained him and robbed him of cash, amounting to about S$50 before they fled the scene.

 

Officers from Tanglin and Clementi Police Divisions conducted extensive ground enquiries to establish the suspects’ identities. On 15 May 2018 at about 4.45 pm, the 21-year-old man was arrested along Holland Drive, while his 20-year-old accomplice was arrested on 16 May 2018 at about 2.55 pm along Ang Mo Kio Avenue 2.

 

Both suspects will be charged in court on 17 May 2018 with robbery with common intention under Section 392 read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, both will face jail terms of not less than 3 years and not more than 14 years, and shall also be punished with caning of not less than 12 strokes.
