The Police have arrested a 29-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of robbery with hurt along Lorong 34 Geylang.
On 3 October 2018 at about 1.30am, the Police received a report that a man had been assaulted and robbed of his mobile phone. Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him along Yishun Street 11 on the same day at 3pm.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had met up with the man to sell his mobile phone. When the victim requested for payment, the man is believed to have assaulted him before fleeing.
The man will be charged in court on 4 October 2018 with robbery with hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries an imprisonment term of not less than 5 years and not more than 20 years and shall also be punished with canning with not less than 12 strokes.
