Two Men Arrested for their Involvement in a Case of Armed Robbery with Hurt

The Police have arrested a 34-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of armed robbery with hurt along Corporation Road on 24 November 2018. A 36-year-old man was also arrested for dishonestly receiving stolen property in relation to the same case.

On 23 November 2018 at about 9.35 pm, the Police received a report from a female victim informing that a man armed with a knife had robbed her two mobile phones along Corporation Road before fleeing. 

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the 34-year-old man and arrested him on 24 November 2018 at about 4.30 pm along Kang Ching Road. The 36-year-old man, who is believed to be in possession of the two mobile phones, was subsequently arrested for dishonestly receiving stolen property. Two mobile phones were recovered and seized as case exhibits.

The 34-year-old man will be charged in court on 26 November 2018 with armed robbery with hurt under Section 394 read with Section 397 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he will be punished with imprisonment for a term of not less than 5 years and not more than 20 years, and not less than 12 strokes of the cane. 

Investigations against the 36-year-old man is ongoing. Anyone convicted for dishonestly receiving stolen property under Section 411 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to 5 years, or with fine, or with both.
