The Police have arrested a 22-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft.

On 27 February 2019 at about 11.05am, the Police received a report that an unknown man had snatched a chain from a 71-year-old female victim along Yishun Ring Road.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him in the vicinity of Yishun Central 1 on 28 February 2019. A chain was seized as case exhibit.   

The man will be charged in court on 1 March 2019 with snatch theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, he faces a jail term of not less than one year and not more than 7 years, and shall also be liable to caning.
