Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police (DAC) Julius Lim Wei-Yang (林玮扬) assumed the command of Bedok Police Division on 13 May 2019. He took over from Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Tan Tin Wee (陈珍伟), who moved on to assume the appointment of Deputy Director, Operations Department on the same day.

DAC Lim, 33, joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 2004 and has served 15 years with the SPF. He previously held several key appointments including Commanding Officer of Choa Chu Kang Neighbourhood Police Centre, Head of Operations and Training of Tanglin Police Division, Senior Assistant Director of the Joint Operations Group, Ministry of Home Affairs and Deputy Commander of Jurong Police Division.

AC Tan, 46, was appointed Commander of Bedok Police Division on 1 November 2016. He joined SPF in 1997 and has served 22 years with the SPF. He previously held several key appointments including Commanding Officer of Geylang Neighbourhood Police Centre, Head of Operations and Training of Clementi Police Division, Assistant Director (Operations Management) of Operations Department, and Deputy Director of Public Affairs Department. He also served as the Deputy Director (Strategic Plans Group) during his secondment to National Security Coordination Secretariat (NSCS).

During AC Tan’s tenure as Commander of Bedok Police Division, the division achieved a consecutive drop in overall crime – a 5.7 percent drop in 2017 and a 2.5 percent drop in 2018. The division also made arrests linked to several high-profile cases such as the armed robbery at Western Union Bank in August 2017, series of islandwide shop thefts by a foreign syndicate in September 2018 and attempted extortion of S$500,000 from Standard Chartered Bank in September 2018. AC Tan led his officers in various major security operations such as the National Day Parade (2017 & 2018), Singapore Airshow 2018, 32nd & 33rd ASEAN Summit and Trump-Kim Summit 2018.

Looking back on his tenure, AC Tan said: “I am honoured to serve in Bedok Police Division alongside my fellow officers, including our volunteer officers and Police National Servicemen. Their dedication to duty and the unwavering support from their families have allowed us to achieve our mission effectively. On behalf of Bedok Police Division, I also thank our community for the strong Police-Community partnership that allowed us to continue working hand in hand to keep our neighbourhoods safe and secure.”
