The Police have arrested three men, aged between 27 and 36, for a case of robbery from a jewellery shop.

On 14 August 2019 at about 4.09pm, the Police received a report of a case of robbery at a jewellery shop located at Block 574 Ang Mo Kio Avenue 10. Preliminary investigations revealed that a man wearing a motorcycle helmet had entered the shop before subsequently escaping with an assortment of jewellery including necklaces, bracelets, and pendants. The jewellery shop had estimated the value of the stolen jewellery to be worth around $100,000. The two staff members present in the shop at the time of the robbery were not injured.

Through extensive investigations, officers from the Criminal Investigation Department, Police Intelligence Department, Ang Mo Kio Police Division, Bedok Police Division and Woodlands Police Division established the identities of the three men and arrested them within 36 hours. The stolen loot was recovered.

The 27-year-old man will be charged in court on 16 August 2019, while the remaining two men will be charged in court on 17 August 2019 with robbery with common intention under Section 392, read with Section 34 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. If convicted, they shall be liable to an imprisonment term of up to ten years, and shall also be punished with caning with not less than six strokes.

Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Department, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police Lian Ghim Hua said, “This is a brazen robbery committed in broad daylight. The main robbery suspect went to great lengths to conceal his identity to evade detection and arrest. Despite that, the meticulous police work and the coordinated efforts of officers from various SPF units resulted in the arrest of all three suspects within 36 hours and the recovery of the loot. The suspects had displayed a blatant disregard of the law in Singapore. The Police will spare no effort in pursuing such criminals and bring them to justice.
