The Singapore Police Force (SPF) has created an online avatar by the name of Inspector Clif. SPF’s aim is for Inspector Clif to augment crime prevention and deterrence efforts by educating and engaging the online community.
Inspector Clif’s name is an acronym made up of the first letters of SPF’s four core values – Courage, Loyalty, Integrity and Fairness. Inspector Clif will adopt the persona of a real Police officer and help to make SPF’s online presence more recognised, relatable and personable, by adopting a more conversational tone and approachable demeanour in the engagements.
Inspector Clif will regularly post content such as crime prevention advisories and trending issues relating to safety and security in Singapore on his Facebook account (facebook.com/InspectorClif). He will help reinforce SPF’s messages through personal anecdotes which reflect the day-to-day life of a Police officer. He will also use his Facebook account to engage other Facebook pages, to offer advice and clarifications on safety and security issues in Singapore.

He will also support SPF’s social media campaigns addressing issues of concern, such as property-related crimes, scams and traffic-related matters.[1]SPF created Inspector Clif as our online avatar to stay abreast of digital consumption trends and engage the increasing number of Singaporeans who are using online platforms to source for information and for interaction
Singaporeans are highly active in the digital sphere, and the Police are continuously exploring new ways to help raise awareness of safety and security issues in Singapore.
