The Police have arrested a 41-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of theft of private bus.

On 28 August 2020 at about 1.30pm, the Police received a report from a victim informing that his bus was stolen from a heavy vehicle carpark located along Woodlands Road.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police and CCTV cameras, officers from Woodlands Police Division and Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 1 September 2020.

The man will be charged in court on 3 September 2020 with the offence of theft of motor vehicle. Anyone convicted of the offence of theft of motor vehicle, punishable under Section 379A of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, will face a jail term of up to 7 years, and a fine.

The Police would like to advise all vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park your vehicles in well-lit areas;

  • Install an anti-theft alarm for your vehicles; and

  • Remove the ignition key and lock the vehicle, whenever it is left unattended.
