The Police have arrested a 50-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of vandalism and theft of bicycle.

On 21 May 2021 at about 4.30pm, the Police were alerted to a case of theft of a bicycle at a residential block located along Bukit Batok West Avenue 8.

Through investigations and ground enquiries, officers from Jurong Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 1 June 2021. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had also purportedly damaged a police camera.

The man will be charged in court on 3 June 2021. The offence of vandalism under Section 3 of the Vandalism Act carries an imprisonment term of up to three years or a fine up to $2,000, and caning of not less than three strokes and not more than eight strokes. The offence of theft under Section 379 of The Penal Code carries an imprisonment term which may extend to 3 years, a fine, or both.
