The Police have arrested a 16-year-old youth for his suspected involvement in three cases of theft of motor vehicles.

 Between 9 and 12 September 2022, the Police received three reports of motorcycles being stolen in the vicinity of Punggol Drive, Punggol Central and Punggol Field.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from Police cameras, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division established the identity of the youth and arrested him on 12 September 2022. The three motorcycles were also recovered.

The youth will be charged in court on 14 September 2022 with theft of motor vehicles under Section 379A of the Penal Code 1871, which carries an imprisonment term of up to seven years and a fine.

 The Police would like to advise all motor vehicle owners to adopt the following crime prevention measures:

  • Park in well-lit areas,

  • Install an anti-theft alarm system and ensure it is well-maintained;

  • Remove cash cards and other valuables, such as laptops and mobile phones before leaving the vehicle; and

  • Remove the ignition key and lock the vehicle, whenever it is left unattended
