Cases Commended for Public Spiritedness Award

On 14 July 2022, Mr Lee Weiming and Mr Lee Kok Hon assisted the Police to detain a man for theft and fraudulent possession of property. The duo witnessed the man stealing a handbag from the victim and fleeing the scene. They immediately gave chase and managed to detain the man. They prevented the man from escaping with the stolen handbag and handed him over to the responding police officers.

On 21 September 2022, neighbours Ms Herda Wati Binte Abdul Rahman and Mr Osman Bin Talib, provided crucial information leading to the arrest of a man in a case of outrage of modesty. Ms Herda and Mr Osman were at home when they heard a scream from their void deck. Sensing that something was amiss, they made a check at the void deck and saw a female victim in distress. They immediately called for the police and gathered information from the victim. Mr Osman helped to search for the man while Ms Herda stayed with the female victim to calm her down. Mr Osman managed to locate the man onboard a bus and alerted nearby police officers to the man’s location. Their actions led to the swift arrest of the man for outrage of modesty.

On 18 November 2022, Mr Ng Fook Leong assisted the Police in the arrest of a man for voyeurism. Mr Ng was browsing for groceries at a supermarket when he spotted a man discreetly placing a mobile phone under a female victim’s dress. The victim was squatting down and had not noticed the act.
