The Police has arrested a 38-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of robbery with hurt.
On 31 August 2023 at 11.54pm, the Police were alerted to a case of robbery with hurt at the back lane of Lorong 41 Geylang. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly assaulted the victim and robbed him of his cash, a mobile phone, and a phone cover containing his work permit and ez-link card. The male victim sustained minor injuries and was conveyed to the hospital.
Through ground enquiries, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within 12 hours of the report. The stolen items, except for cash, were subsequently recovered.
The man will be charged in court on 2 September 2023 with the offence of Robbery with Hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than five years and not more than 20 years and caning of not less than 12 strokes.
