The police have arrested a 55-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a series of renovation scams.

Between October 2022 and October 2023, the Police received multiple reports from victims who were purportedly cheated by a man who offered them renovation services. The victims had engaged his service when he had approached the victims’ homes to promote his renovation service. The man then became uncontactable after payments were made. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man is suspected to be involved in more than 20 cases islandwide. The amount cheated is estimated to be more than S$198,000. 

Through follow-up investigations, officers from Clementi Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 17 October 2023. 

The man will be charged in court on 19 October 2023 for Cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of up to 10 years and a fine.

The Police takes a serious view of cheating offences, and offenders will be dealt with severely in accordance with the law.
