The Singapore Police Force (SPF) held the Police Day Observance Ceremony 2025 on 3 June 2025 at the Home Team Academy. Mr Edwin Tong, Minister for Law and Second Minister for Home Affairs, was the Guest-of-Honour at the ceremony which saw more than 200 participants from the various Police divisions, specialist units, Volunteer Special Constabulary, and cadets from the National Police Cadet Corps.
Commemorated annually on 3 June since 1971, Police Day celebrates the SPF’s achievements, recognises the contributions of past and present officers, and brings officers together to renew our pledge to serve Singapore and to carry out our duties with courage, loyalty, integrity, and fairness.
Ceremony Segment
2025 is a significant year for the SPF as we celebrate the 100th Anniversary of the SPF Band since its formation and 50 years of Police National Service. For the first time, the ceremony featured the display of flags belonging to 19 Police units, which traditionally formed the parade marching contingent at past Police Day Parades.
The SPF Band also unveiled the 100th Anniversary Centennial Mace, which was received by Superintendent of Police (SUPT) Sulaiman Bin Abdul Wahab, Director of Music, on behalf of the SPF Band. The centennial mace was specially commissioned in commemoration of this significant milestone, and represents the unity, discipline and professionalism of the SPF Band. Please refer to Annex A for the details of the centennial mace.

Annex A – Symbolism of the 100th Anniversary Centennial Mace
- In military bands, the mace is wielded by the Drum Major and is a visual command instrument to guide tempo and coordinate movements during parades and performances.
- To commemorate the SPF Band’s 100th year in service, a specially designed ceremonial mace—the Centennial Mace—was commissioned to embody a century of musical tradition, honour, and pride.
- Modelled after the SPF Ceremonial Sword, the Centennial Mace is crowned with a sculpted silver lion head, a tribute to Singapore’s identity as the Lion City. Encircling the mace are five ornamental crests featuring historic police insignias, alongside the State Crest—each symbol chronicling the evolution of the SPF and honouring its enduring legacy.
- The body of the mace is wrapped with the iconic SPF chevrons, representing the Force’s steadfast role in safeguarding the nation behind the scenes. At its pinnacle, the core values of the SPF—Courage, Loyalty, Integrity, and Fairness—are engraved, a constant reminder of the principles that guide every officer’s service.
- Elegant and commanding, the Centennial Mace is not only a symbol of the Drum Major’s authority but also a lasting emblem of the legacy, values, and spirit of the SPF Band as it proudly marches into its next century.
