There will be a change of command at Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 7 July 2025.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Tan Tian Yeow (陈天耀) will assume command of Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 7 July 2025. He takes over from AC Xie Xingmao (谢幸旄), who will assume the post of Deputy Director (Development) in the Operations Department, on the same day.
AC Tan joined the Singapore Police Force (SPF) in 2001. In his 24 years with the SPF, he has held several key appointments, including Deputy Director of the Ops-Tech Department, Deputy Commander of Central Police Division, Head Operations & Security of the Police Coast Guard, Head Operations and Training of Tanglin Police Division, and Senior Assistant Director (Border & Transport Security) of the Security Policy Directorate in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
AC Xie, who was appointed Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division on 1 June 2023, joined the SPF in 2005. In his 20 years with the SPF, he has held several key appointments, including Deputy Director (Security & Readiness) in the Operations Department, Deputy Commander of Jurong Police Division, Head Operations of Central Police Division, and Senior Assistant Director (Immigration & Registration) of the Policy Development Division in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Under AC Xie's command, Ang Mo Kio Police Division enhanced its operational readiness. Apart from improved frontline response, the Division demonstrated exceptional management of major deployments, such as the large-scale rallies during the General Election 2025, Presidential Election 2023 and other national events held at the Istana.
AC Xie has also fostered the Division’s strong partnerships with stakeholders such as iJOOZ, DHL Express, Mr Bean, Gain City, Breadtalk Group, Go Ahead Singapore, SBS Transit, Brezze SG and Pick Network where crime prevention advisories were widely shared through their merchandise, digital displays and social media platforms.
AC Xie also championed a comprehensive youth engagement strategy. In collaboration with the Ministry of Education, grassroots and non-governmental organisations (NGOs), the Division successfully mentored at-risk students, providing the opportunity for them to serve the community. Apart from physical engagements, the Division also developed Mata-Verse, a Roblox game, to better reach out to the youths in the virtual environment. This has grown and saw around nine million playthroughs in the past two years, with more games in the pipeline.
Building on community engagement efforts, AC Xie strengthened the Division's outreach through the Police-RSVP Anti-Scam Engagement (PRAISE) Project, where seniors were trained as advocates to spread anti-scam and anti-crime messages. The Division also partnered YYD Education Centre and various NGOs to use the redesigned Neighbourhood Police Posts for their activities, allowing for better Police outreach to the community.
AC Xie is also a strong advocate for organisational development. Under his leadership, he put in place various measures to enhance the physical and psychological wellness of the Division, pushed out various innovations and digitalisation initiatives to improve work processes, kick-started sustainability efforts and built up the Division’s unique identity.
Reflecting on his tenure as Commander of Ang Mo Kio Police Division, AC Xie said, “As their Commander, I witnessed firsthand the commitment of officers at Ang Mo Kio Police Division, including our Volunteer Special Constabulary Officers and Police National Servicemen, in their daily pursuit to prevent, deter, and detect crime, as well as enhance their operational readiness through training and exercises. I am deeply appreciative of their devotion to duty, and it is a blessing to have worked alongside every one of you. I am also grateful for and treasure the strong support of our community partners and grassroots in working with us to better reach out to the community and to serve them. Ang Mo Kio Police Division has a strong culture, and I am certain that the Division will continue to excel and keep our neighbourhoods safe and secure.”
