The Police have arrested a 38-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of rash act causing hurt.
On 5 July 2025 at about 6.50pm, the Police received a call for assistance along Orchard Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that the man had allegedly thrown a glass bottle onto the window of a bus from a pedestrian walkway. The impact caused the window to shatter and injured a 57-year-old female bus passenger.
Through follow-up investigations, officers from Tanglin Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him on 8 July 2025. An 18-year-old teenager who was with the man is also assisting with the investigation.
The man will be charged in court on 9 July 2025 with rash act causing hurt. Offence of rash act causing hurt under Section 337(a) of the Penal Code 1871 carries an imprisonment term which may extend to one year, a find up to $5,000 or both.
The Police have zero tolerance against acts that endanger the lives or safety of others and will not hesitate to take action against those who blatantly disregard the law.
