The Police have arrested a 51-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of robbery with hurt.
On 5 March 2020 at about 8.10am, the Police received a report from a 92-year-old male victim that he was assaulted and robbed of his wallet by an unknown man wearing a pitta mask along Jalan Enam. The victim reported that cash amounting to S$1200 was stolen.
Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from police cameras and closed-circuit television footage, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him along Cassia Crescent on 6 March 2020.
The suspect will be charged in court on 7 March 2020 with the offence of robbery with hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224, which carries a jail term of not less than 5 years and not more than 20 years, and caning with not less than 12 strokes.
Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Police Julius Lim, Commander of Bedok Police Division, said, “The accused might have thought that he could wear a pitta mask to conceal his identity while carrying out the robbery but he was wrong. With great resolve and resourcefulness, the Bedok Police Division officers were able to establish his identity and arrest him within 17 hours.”
