The Police have arrested two men, aged 51 and 59, for their suspected involvement in a case of robbery with hurt.

On 9 May 2020 at about 1.36am, the Police received reports on a fight along New Upper Changi Road. Preliminary investigations revealed that a 41-year-old man was assaulted and robbed of his bag by two men along New Upper Changi Road. Cash amounting to S$420 and a handphone were stolen.

Through ground enquiries and with the aid of images from the police cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identities of the men and arrested them within 15 hours of the report.

They will be charged in court on 11 May 2020 with robbery with hurt under Section 394 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224. The offence is punishable with imprisonment of not less than five years and not more than 20 years, and caning with not less than 12 strokes.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Julius Lim, Commander of Bedok Police Division, said, “Instead of complying with the Covid-19 circuit breaker and staying at home, the duo ignored the restrictions and committed the brazen robbery. I am proud of the efforts of the officers who worked tirelessly and arrested the suspects swiftly. The Police will continue to fight crime relentlessly and ensure that those who commit crime are held accountable.”
