In a ceremony held at Woodlands Police Division on 1 April 2021, four members of the public were commended for their public spiritedness.
In the first case on 30 November 2019, Mr Khoo Han Sheng Marcus, had assisted the Police in detaining a man who fled after allegedly stealing a bag along Yishun Ring Road. The man was subsequently arrested for theft.
In the second case on 7 January 2021, Mr Darren Ray and Mr Velayuthan Prakash had assisted the Police in detaining a man who had allegedly tampered with the doors of multiple cars along Yishun Avenue 4. The man was subsequently arrested as he was wanted by the Police for a previous offence of theft from vehicle.
In the third case on 21 February 2021, Mr Muhammad Nasri Bin Zainuddin had prevented a woman from endangering herself when he spotted her standing at the edge of the top floor ledge of a multi-storey carpark along Canberra Street. Mr Muhammad Nasri had persuaded the woman to come down from the ledge. The woman was subsequently apprehended under the Mental Health Act.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (AC) Leon Chan (陈亮华), Commander of Woodlands Police Division said, “We had the privilege today to recognize the contributions of four individuals who, through quick thinking and action, assisted the police to foil two crimes and saved the life of a person in danger. They are examples of a vigilant community working hand in hand with the Police to keep Singapore safe and secure.”
