Three men, aged between 46 and 63, will be charged in court on 20 January 2022 under Section 14(3) of the Societies Act 1966 and Section 34(7)(a) of the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) Act 2020.

Officers from the Criminal Investigation Department investigated the trio for allegedly chanting secret society slogans during a funeral procession along Havelock Road on 26 May 2021 at about 3.30pm. A video clip of the funeral procession was subsequently uploaded on social media by netizens.

The offence of breaching the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, carries a fine not exceeding $10,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding six months or both; or in the case of a second or subsequent offence, a fine not exceeding $20,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding 12 months or both.
