The Police have arrested a 50-year-old man for his suspected involvement in a case of snatch theft.
On 4 December 2022 at about 1.55pm, the Police were alerted to a case of snatch theft along Upper Boon Keng Road, where a victim’s wallet was allegedly snatched by an unknown man.
Through follow-up investigations and with the aid of images from Police and CCTV cameras, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the man and arrested him within six hours of the reported crime.
Police investigations revealed that the man is believed to also be involved in various other offences of theft, including shop theft and bicycle theft. Police investigations are on.
The man will be charged in Court on 6 December 2022 with the offence of snatch theft under Section 356 of the Penal Code 1871. The offence carries an imprisonment term of not less than one year and not more than seven years, and caning.
The Police will not tolerate such brazen acts of crime and will spare no effort to apprehend such offenders and deal with them in accordance with the law.
