Launch of Crime Prevention Innovation Projects at Tampines Community Plaza

The Singapore Police Force is organising a series of five Police Community Roadshows in the heartlands to raise awareness on police work with the emphasis on three areas: Real Work That Matters, Equipped to Succeed, and Community Leaders. Please refer to Annex A for details of the roadshows.

The fourth roadshow was held at Tampines Community Plaza from 10 to 11 December 2016 and members of the public were able to view equipment used by the frontline policing officers upfront, and experience the investigative work done by police officers, including fingerprint dusting using the Fingerprinting Kit. They also learnt more about policing work through the various exhibitions and demonstrations. Please refer to Annex B for the highlights of the roadshows.

The Guest-of-Honour, Miss Cheng Li Hui, Member of Parliament of Tampines GRC also launched the Crime Prevention Innovation Projects at the fourth Police Community Roadshow on 10 December 2016.

Bedok Division launched three Crime Prevention Innovation Projects at the roadshow. The projects are LED Crime Alert Signage, Electronic Message Board and Lamp Post Crime Alert Signage. These projects showcase how SPF leverages technology and creativity to educate members of the public in preventing crime and deter would-be criminals from committing it. The LED boards are located at prominent locations and have an additional role to play. In line with SGSecure, these boards can also remind residents on what they should do when they spot suspicious characters/ articles. During crisis, it can also push out timely information to update the residents. Please refer to Annex C for the details of the projects.
