The Police would like to alert members of the public to fake investment and job advertisements on social media that lure people to invest through “TeSen Forex International Pte Ltd”, which is believed to be a fictitious company.

For these cases, victims would come across fake advertisement on social media, offering investment opportunity with high returns or a lucrative job offer. Upon clicking on the URL link embedded in the fake advertisements, the victims would be directed to a purported staff from TeSen Forex International Pte Ltd. Victims who decided to invest in these packages would be directed to transfer monies into bank accounts provided by the scammers. Victims only realised that they have been scammed when they did not receive the expected returns or were unable to withdraw their investments.

In some cases, victims were also instructed to reveal their social media accounts details such as username and password in order to receive the returns from the investment. These victims would subsequently discover that their social media accounts have been compromised.

Members of public are reminded to always Ask, Check and Confirm:

  • ASK – ASK as many questions as you need to fully understand the investment opportunity. If the company is unable to, or avoids answering any of your questions, be wary!

  • CHECK – CHECK on the company, its owners, directors and management members to assess if the opportunity is genuine

  • CONFIRM – CONFIRM the company’s and representatives’ credentials by using available resources, including the Financial Institutions Directory, Register of Representatives and Investor Alert List on the MAS’ website (www.mas.gov.sg).
