The Police have arrested a 17-year-old male teenager for his suspected involvement in a e-commerce scam selling fake Apple Airpods Pro.      

On 12 March 2020, the Police received a report from a victim who had been cheated after coming across a listing by the teenager selling a brand new Apple Airpods Pro at a significantly discounted price on Facebook Marketplace. The teenager met up with the victim for the deal and he was assured that the item was brand new and authentic. However, after the victim unboxed the phone, it was found to be a counterfeit product.

Through investigations, officers from Bedok Police Division established the identity of the teenager and arrested him on 25 March 2020.

Investigation against the teenager are still ongoing.

The offence of Cheating under Section 420 of the Penal Code, Chapter 224 carries an imprisonment term that may extend to 10 years, and a fine.
