Your role in building a safer, stronger community is more important than you think and you can contribute in many ways.

By working hand-in-hand with the SPF, you can contribute in various areas that suit your interests, time, and preference.

You can make an impact by:

  1. Being informed of the latest crime information, alerts and advisories. You can share the latest crime information with your family and friends, so that more people will be aware of the risks and can take necessary actions to protect themselves.

Sign up for the Community Watch Scheme, download the Police@SG app, or follow the SPF on social media. These small actions keep you connected with the SPF, so you can protect yourself and those around you from becoming the next victim of crime.

  2. Taking part in SPF programmes and events. You can learn important skills to protect yourself, your loved ones and your community.

  3. Stepping up to play a more active role in keeping the community and Singapore safe.

You can be directly involved in the mission of keeping Singapore safe through the many volunteer opportunities within the SPF. You can join as a Citizen on Patrol (COP) member and serve as the eyes and ears of your neighbourhood, or contribute through the Episodic Volunteering Programme (EVP), where you can lend your talents for short-term volunteering projects, such as designing educational content, supporting community outreach.

Coffee with a Cop

Since the launch of ‘Coffee with a Cop’ on 17 June 2023, these sessions have been bringing police officers and the community together in the most relaxed way possible - over a good cup of coffee! No uniforms required, no formal agenda - just genuine conversations amongst people who care about keeping Singapore safe and take part in making their neighbourhoods safer.

What Happens at These Sessions?

Your Community Policing Officers from the Neighbourhood Police Centres organise these monthly gatherings, eager to hear from you, our important community partner. They are not just there to answer questions - they genuinely want your feedback and suggestions on how to make your neighbourhood safer.

You can also discover what your Community Policing Officers do every day, stay updated on neighbourhood safety trends, and be the first to hear about exciting new police initiatives. Knowledge over a cup of coffee just gets better!

Building Stronger Communities, One Cup at a Time

Through these face-to-face interactions, "Coffee with a Cop" strengthens the relationship between police and the communities they serve. Come take part in the next session - your neighbourhood Community Policing Officers are looking forward to meeting you! We can build a SaferSG, Together.

Police Pal

Police Pal is an SPF exciting programme that brings crime prevention to life for our youngest community members! Through fun, hands-on activities, preschoolers and primary school children can discover how to stay safe whilst learning what our friendly police officers do every day.

Born from the successful Young Police Buddy programme in Bedok in 2019, Police Pal has grown into something truly special. It's our way of building positive connections between children and the SPF from an early age - because when children trust police officers and are comfortable to approach them for help (when needed), our whole community becomes stronger.

We have partnered the Ministry of Education's Character and Citizenship Education team to complement the activity with what children are already learning in school, making it both educational and enjoyable.

Say Hello to Ray - Every Child's Police Buddy!

Ray is our cheerful police mascot who lights up children's faces wherever he goes! Just like his name suggests, Ray shares important safety lessons and makes learning about crime prevention an adventure rather than a worry. He's the friendly face that guides children through exciting Police Pal activities, assuring them that they can trust the police officers to help and protect them, when needed.

Storytime Adventures with Ray

Our Community Policing Unit officers bring Ray's world to life through captivating storybooks during visits to preschools. These are not just any stories – these are carefully crafted adventures where Ray helps people in need, showing children real-life examples of kindness and safety.

The Police Pal storybooks series introduces children to Ray and demonstrates how police officers care for everyone in our community. These stories make safety and security lessons memorable and meaningful for the young minds.

Catch more of Ray in our Police Pal storybook series and take part in our storytelling sessions in libraries!

Volunteer Schemes

Citizens on Patrol (COP)

The COP scheme enables volunteers to build meaningful connections with like-minded residents, whilst engaging the broader community on crime prevention and neighbourhood safety.

As a COP volunteer, you will walk the ground by patrolling your neighbourhood with fellow COP Members. You can share your knowledge by engaging the residents on crime prevention measures. You can keep your neighbourhood safe by alerting Police when you observe suspicious activities or persons.

Ready to join a network of residents in making a SaferSG, Together? Sign up as a COP member here.

Crime Prevention Ambassador (CPA)

The CPA was launched in 2002 by the Singapore Police Force, the Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth, and the National Crime Prevention Council. The programme trains senior citizens to educate their peers on crime prevention through community sessions, police training, and educational talks.

With over 200 multilingual CPAs, the programme expanded in May 2024 to include Cyber Crime Prevention Ambassadors. The Cyber Crime Prevention Ambassador focuses on cybercrime education, providing meaningful volunteer opportunities for seniors whilst strengthening community safety through peer-to-peer engagement.

Sign up as a CPA here.

Episodic Volunteering Programme (EVP)

The EVP offers ad-hoc and flexible volunteering opportunities for citizens. With their diverse skills, experience, and knowledge, EVP volunteers join the SPF as advocates and partners towards a SaferSG, Together. EVP allows volunteers to contribute based on their availability and expertise. Some of the available volunteer roles include joining the SPF Band as Performer (Instrumentalist), Roadshow Ambassador, Design Thinking Consultant, etc.

Sign up as an EVP Volunteer here.

National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC)

NPCC Cadet Inspector (CI) or Honorary Officer (HO) are volunteers who are appointed as leaders of the Corps.

The CIs are youth leaders who assist in carrying out the training programmes of NPCC and contribute their services in classroom and field trainings of the cadets. During their involvement with NPCC, our youth leaders would gain exposure and practical training to become good youth leaders in the community.

The HOs are adult leaders who assist the Teacher Officers to carry out the training programmes of NPCC.  They act as mentors to the NPCC cadets and contribute their expertise, knowledge and experience to see to the smooth running of the NPCC unit and the Corps.

Volunteers from NPCC CI and HO are appointed through the Home Team Corps Act.

Victim Care Cadre Programme (VCCP)

Victim Care Officers (VCOs) are community volunteers with the Victim Care Cadre Programme (VCCP).  These volunteers work with the SPF to support crime victims, including those affected by sexual crimes, scams, and other serious offences throughout the investigation process.

As a VCO, you will provide emotional and support to victims of crime throughout the investigation and criminal justice process. You will be trained to provide a listening ear and look out for these victims who may be struggling to cope in the aftermath of trauma.
