Training

Your career will begin with a six-month residential training programme. You will undergo a well-structured curriculum that includes police defence tactics, physical training, lessons in criminal law and training to equip you to be a Ground Response Force officer.

Posting

After graduating from training, you may be posted to a Neighbourhood Police Centre as a frontline officer to gain valuable operational experience and team leadership skills. You may subsequently be posted to other departments and units. This can include frontline duties, staff work, investigation or intelligence. Depending on your suitability and the available vacancies, you may also be posted to specialist units such as the Police Coast Guard, Security Command and the Traffic Police.

Pre-enlistees

Fulfil your full-time National Service liability by serving five years as a regular police officer and still draw a full salary and benefits. Pre-enlistees should apply 3 months before their enlistment date.

Starting Salary

Up to $3,860

INVEST Retirement Package

As a uniformed officer, you will be eligible for retirement benefits under the INVEST Scheme. A contribution equivalent to 7.75% of your gross salary will be credited monthly into your retirement account, starting from your first year in service and will cease when you reach 57 years old. The monies are invested to earn investment returns. Upon retirement, you can withdraw the full sum in your account.

Strategic Payment Scheme

Overview

The SPF Policing-Study Diploma Programme offers candidates with NITEC or Higher NITEC certification an opportunity to pursue a sponsored Diploma while employed full-time with the SPF as a Direct-Entry Sergeant and drawing a full salary.

Programme Overview

The Programme includes a 2.5-year part time Diploma education offered by Temasek Polytechnic.

  • Diploma in Policing and Security Management
  • 4 workdays & 1 day of in-person classes each week
  • Attain full-time employment with monthly salary, sign-on bonus, frontline allowances & more
  • Officers will be granted time off to pursue their studies
    *Male recipients who have not served their National Service will placed under the Minimum Term of Engagement Scheme (MTE) of five years.
