The Singapore Police Force Scholarship (SPFS) is awarded to candidates who have shown outstanding academic performance and leadership qualities, with a strong desire to serve in the Singapore Police Force. It is one of the most prestigious scholarships awarded by the Public Service Commission.
As a SPFS scholar, you will continue on your learning journey in a world-renowned university that provides intellectually, socially and personally enriching programmes to prepare you for a life of service and leadership. Upon your return to the Force, you will be involved in shaping policies to address issues on public law and order and play an integral role in protecting our country, our community and your loved ones.
You will be placed in the Public Service Leadership Programme, where you will be given opportunities to acquire specialised knowledge and capabilities to take on key leadership positions in the Singapore Police Force. In the first six years of your career, you will be rotated through regular postings to acquire investigation acumen and policy conceptualisation skills, as well as command and leadership abilities.
Who Can Apply?
Singapore Citizens who have:
- Attained outstanding academic results
- Strong leadership qualities and a keen interest in a career in the Singapore Police Force
- Good CCA records
- GCE ‘A’ levels, International Baccalaureate (IB), Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit), NUS High School, or other high school diploma/certificate
- Excelled in Officer Cadet School (OCS)
Current Undergraduate students (not in final year of studies) may also apply.
Award Benefits
- Tuition and other approved fees
- Monthly overseas or local maintenance allowance (including accommodation)
- Pre-studies allowance e.g. settling in, warm clothing, computer

What is the Length of Bond?
Scholarship holders will be bonded, starting from the day they assume duty after completing their course of study, for:
- Six years (for studies in English-speaking countries)
- Five years (for studies in non-English-speaking countries)
- Four years (for local studies).
Note: To apply for an SPF scholarship (all tiers, including The Singapore Police Force Scholarship), please indicate 'Uniformed Services - SPF' as your first choice on the PSC application.
MHA Uniformed Scholarships (SPF) expose scholarship holders to various areas of work through regular postings to acquire staff and command competencies.
Eligible scholarship holders who meet the criteria will be placed on the Public Service Leadership Programme, where they will be given opportunities to acquire specialised knowledge and capabilities to take on key leadership positions in the SPF.
What Scholarships are Available?
You may be offered one of the following scholarship tiers:
- Singapore Merit Scholarship (SMS)
- Singapore Government Scholarship (SGS)
- Local Merit Scholarship (LMS)
- Home Team Local Study Award (HTLSA)
Who Can Apply?
Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents who intend to take up Singapore Citizenship and have:
- Strong leadership qualities
- A strong interest in safeguarding the safety and security of Singapore
- Good academic and Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) records
- GCE A-Levels, International Baccalaureate, Polytechnic, NUS High School, or other high school diploma/certificate
- A good performance record in National Service (for male applicants)
Candidates aspiring for the Singapore Merit Scholarship (SMS) tier should qualify and excel in Officer Cadet School. Female candidates will have to submit their application earlier to have sufficient time to prepare for enlistment into Basic Military Training (BMT) in the Singapore Armed Forces.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) Book Prize is awarded to students in recognition of their academic excellence and stellar co-curricular achievements. The award aims to motivate students in their continued pursuit of excellence in school and affirm the SPF’s commitment towards the holistic development of students as future leaders of Singapore.
Every year, the SPF presents the SPF Book Prize to 20 Year 2 Junior College, Year 6 International Baccalaureate and Year 3 Polytechnic students.
As part of the SPF Book Prize journey, you will be given the rare opportunity to participate in enriching experiential programmes that allow you to interact with SPF officers working in different fields to get a glimpse into the exciting world of policing.
Who Can Apply?
If you are a Singapore Citizen or a Permanent Resident intending to take up citizenship, you may apply for the SPF Book Prize as long as you:
- Are a current Junior College Year 1, International Baccalaureate Year 5 or Polytechnic Year 2 student
- Possess academic excellence
- Demonstrate strong leadership qualities
- Are passionate about serving the community
- Are keen to contribute towards a safe and secure Singapore
How You are Assessed
As part of the SPF Book Prize journey, if you are shortlisted, you will be required to attend the following programmes:
- Aspiring Leaders Programme – an insightful two-day experiential programme for you to embark on a learning journey across SPF specialist units and departments
- SPF Book Prize Selection Day – an exciting one-day assessment programme where you will take part in a simulated Operations Planning Exercise
