Protected Areas / Protected Places (PA/PP) are places where special measures are needed to control the movement and conduct of persons for public safety and security reasons. PA/PP are declared by the Minister for Home Affairs, upon the successful application by the owner. Information on premises declared as PA/PP can be found on the AGC website.

Enhanced Powers for PA/PP
Prohibition of Photography/Filming
Photography/videography of a PA/PP is not allowed without the owner's permission. Please approach the owners to seek their permission before you take photos/videos of the PA/PP. For information on PA/PPs that do not grant broad-based permission for photography from the outside and their respective points of contact, please refer to the References and Application Forms section below.
Exemptions
Persons with the following permits/licences and acting in accordance with the permit/licences are exempted from the need to seek the Authority’s approval before taking photos of a PA/PP.

Permits issued by SPF under Section 7 of Air Navigation Act (ANA) to allow photography of Protected Areas defined under the ANA. Permits issued by CAAS under paragraph 72F of the Air Navigation Order to regulate the operation of UA flights. |
2 | Photography by Autonomous Vehicles (AVs) |
Licences issued by LTA under section 7 (1)(a)(i) of the Road Traffic (Autonomous Motor Vehicles) Rules 2017, which authorises the trial of AVs. |

Information for Authorities of PA/PP
Authorities of PA/PP are to ensure that adequate notices are displayed prominently at their premises. In addition, Authorities of PP are required to put in place adequate security measures to prevent unauthorised entry.
Upon successful application for enhanced powers, do ensure that sufficient signs are put up to alert the public on the enhanced powers that are applicable for the PA/PP.
Only authorised officers can exercise the powers related to PA/PP under the Infrastructure Protection Act. Please ensure that only authorised officers are deployed at the PA/PP from Dec 2019.
