Overview

Protected Areas / Protected Places (PA/PP) are premises where special measures are needed to control the movement and conduct of persons for public safety and security reasons. PA/PP are declared by the Minister for Home Affairs, upon the successful application by the owner or occupier of the premises.

The difference between a PA and a PP is as follows:

PAPP Description

The Police have reviewed and updated the design of the PA/PP signs in May 2023. During the transition period until May 2028, the public may come across either version at PA/PPs.
